Graduate School of Mathematics

International rankings indicate that Université Paris-Saclay is one of the best destinations in the world for mathematics education. The Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics (EDMH) opens the door to high-level careers in both academic and industrial research for about a hundred young mathematicians each year. Upstream, the Master's "Mathematics and Applications" with more than 500 graduates per year, is the largest master's program in mathematics in the world.

Currently, more than 350 mathematicians of the Université receive great international recognition, as evidenced by the 11 Fields Medals, 3 Abel prizes, and numerous other prizes awarded to them. The mathematicians of Université Paris-Saclay also receive significant support from the European Union (20 ERC grants).

Sylvie Retailleau, currently Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and former President of the Université Paris-Saclay, sent a congratulatory message to the Graduate School of Mathematics in 2020.

Hugo Duminil-Copin is awarded the Fields Medal

Hugo Duminil-Copin, a French mathematician specializing in probability theory and a permanent professor at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES) since 2016, has been awarded the Fields medal. This is the eighth Fields Medal awarded to a professor at IHES and the eleventh Fields Medal for Université Paris-Saclay, IHES being one of its founding members. Hugo Duminil-Copin supervised three theses
in the framework of the Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics (EDMH): Aran Raoufi, Franco Severo and Mendes Oulamara.

The Université Paris-Saclay had made a portrait of him in 2020, in which he describes himself as a normal man, with a classical background, "not particularly gifted" in mental arithmetic. Read the interview.
