The Agrosciences, Environment, Territories, Landscape, Forest (AETPF) specialization deals in a multidisciplinary manner with the sustainable management of resources and environments in the territories, considering the issues of sustainable agriculture, agroecology and environmental preservation.
The first year of the Master's program addresses issues related to agriculture and the environment, providing the general disciplinary foundations for addressing them in ecological, biotechnical, and social sciences. It provides the basic foundations necessary for an integrative approach before the second year of the Master's program, where a more in-depth or deliberately interdisciplinary focus will be pursued in the various specialties. Some optional courses in the first and second semesters offer assistance in choosing an M2 program in this specialization.
Information
Objectives
The objective of the Agrosciences, Environment, Territories, Landscape, Forest specialization is to train specialists with a high level of scientific skills in the fields of management of natural, rural and peri-urban spaces and management of natural resources. The training emphasizes an integrative vision, both multidisciplinary and multi-scale (from the molecular or mineralogical scale to the cultivated plot, the watershed, the landscape, from local to global scales) of the questions and the development of solutions. It also gives an important place to modeling, to its theoretical, mathematical and statistical foundations, as well as to other research methods (experimental, participatory, survey) allowing, combined, to better understand complex agricultural, forestry and ecological systems. The students trained must be able to mobilize appropriate scientific approaches to contribute to addressing major ecological problems (from maintaining biodiversity to controlling invasive species), food (from undernourishment to ecological agricultural production methods), linked to to resources (from soil fragility to atmospheric pollution) and to spaces (from landscape and forest management to global climate change), today and tomorrow. The first year of the Master's degree addresses the major societal issues affecting the aforementioned fields, providing general disciplinary complements (compared to the Bachelor's degree) to address them in the fields of natural, biotechnical, and economic and social sciences. It allows students to acquire the common foundations necessary for an integrative vision before the second year of the Master's degree, where a more marked disciplinary deepening will be carried out in the different specialties. Furthermore, this Master's training in and through research places particular importance on direct confrontation with objects and methods, to strengthen the autonomy and self-learning capacity of students. It also gives a significant part to project work, field placements, laboratory or company internships.
