M2 International Cooperation Policies

Objectives

1- Public international affairs, influential diplomacy, crisis management

The programme (5th year of the IEP-SGL) aims to train students in cooperation policy management. The academic and professional courses develop numerous skills: synthesis, critical analysis, strategic projection, context diagnosis, communication and understanding of international public affairs and influential diplomacy, and crisis management.

2- Bridging the public/private divide

The vocational goal is to bridge the public/private/merchant/non-merchant divide and to promote moving between one professional world and another, without sectoral exclusion. All the knowledge acquired guarantees that students will be eligible for positions of responsibility in large companies, export start-ups, government bodies, UN agencies, NGOs, engineering consultancies etc.

Course Prerequisites

Students come from IEPs (French political sciences institutes), law, political science, economics or more generally any studies related to international issues. Students must have a proven interest in these matters, shown over the course of their studies, and have spent at least six months abroad.

Generalists capable of steering complex international cooperation policies in the public and private sectors.

Career prospects

1- As an example, the programme immediately offers opportunities in:
- private companies that finance cooperation policies or participate in the implementation of such policies (food industry, pharmaceutical laboratories, oil industry, telecommunications operators)
- national institutions (Ministry of Foreign and European affairs, development agencies, ministries, local authorities, etc.) or international institutions (UN organisations and agencies, European Union)
- French and European design offices (IRAM, SOFRECO, SODETEG, Expertise France) and technical assistance or think tanks (CEIP, CAP, CEPS)
- international solidarity organisations (MSF, ACF, MDM, CCFD, GRET, OXFAM, CARE, RED CROSS, ICRC, HI)
- foundations (FDF, AGRA, EJAF, FBG) and NGO networks (Coordination sud, CLONG)

In these organisations, students have access to the following professions or functions:

- mission coordinator, research manager, business or development officer
- programme or project coordinator
- public administration manager
- project design and assessment consultant
- decentralised cooperation officer

Programme

- 5 UE sont proposés et sont suivis de manière obligatoire par chaque étudiant.
- Tous les séminaires ne font pas l'objet d'une évaluation, les ECTS sont affectés au niveau de l'UE.
