Présentation
Learning outcome targets

This Master's degree is currently based on the one hand on the ‘Specialist English’ course (A.Spé) at the École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, which is taught in collaboration with the Université Paris-Diderot, and on the other on the FESup course, which is taught exclusively at ENS Paris-Saclay. It aims to train very high-performing anglicists who possess the skills traditionally developed in the study of English (excellent command of written and oral English language, excellent level in English/French and French/English translation). In addition, students should have a strong disciplinary background in Specialist English (e.g. extensive linguistic and phonological skills, ability to analyse the major literary texts of the English-speaking world, knowledge of English-speaking civilisations), and a very strong subject aptitude for Specialist English (theory and didactics of English, knowledge of the major fields of Specialist English - scientific, legal, economic, medical English, knowledge of discourse analysis and terminology).
The specific profile of the A.Spé Master's degree (the only Master's degree associated with the LLCER course at the Université Paris-Saclay and unique in France) means it is particularly well suited for future teachers or teacher-researchers of English wishing to work in contexts where specialist English is at the heart of research and training (lectureship or PRAG positions in higher education, universities, IUTs or Grandes Ecoles).

Post-graduate profile
  • University lecturers in English studies or with a specialisation in English (after completing a doctoral programme);
  • Teachers (agrégés) in higher education (PRAG);
  • Teachers (agrégés) in preparatory classes;
  • Secondary-school teachers (agrégés);
  • Executives in the public or private sector.
Transfer paths

Master students have access to the two M2 courses offered ("A.Spé" - (English for Specific Purposes) - and "FESup" - Pedagogical Training for Lecturers - from the "A. Spé" Master 1 which constitutes a common core syllabus base).

However, under certain conditions it is possible to enter directly into the FESup Master 2 without first completing the FESup M1 (proven excellence in English-speaking studies is a prerequisite in such a case).
