Future Workshop "Flight and Study“

2021-05-25 10:00 2021-06-01 16:00 Future Workshop "Flight and Study“

Prospective refugees as well as stakeholders at universities are each confronted with different challenges when it comes to taking up studies at a university.

On the one hand, there are the special experiences and circumstances of the prospective students due to their flight experience and the resulting special legal status. On the other, staff in international offices, for example, face a great deal of perceived legal uncertainty due to the complexities of refugee law, with knowledge and experience of measures offered often limited to a few individuals.

How can this imbalance be addressed? How can the circumstances of refugees/refugee students be addressed and incorporated into the design of interventions at universities? How can knowledge of individuals be harnessed collectively? How can university employees be relieved of excessive demands with regard to refugee law and shown room for discretion?

These questions provide the framework for our Future Workshop and should help to design a sustainable concept for the future of studying as a refugee at universities. The creation of a prototype that incorporates the best ideas represents the conclusion of the workshop.

(Prospective) Refugee students, actors from universities and other stakeholders from this field (social workers, employment agency, volunteers, etc.) are cordially invited to attend the workshop.
