Déroulement du doctorat

Doctorate advancement

Intermediate defense

In agreement with the "charte des thèses de l'Université Paris-Saclay" that you will have to sign, an intermediate defense must be organized during the second year. This intermediate defense can be organized as a lab seminar, in presence of an external expert. The choice of the expert must be done by your thesis supervisor and you must inform the axis director of the choice. You must send a short report on your PhD work to the expert prior to the intermediate defense. An individual interview with the expert must also be organized. The expert has then to send a short report of your intermediate defense to the axis director.

Complementary doctoral training

During your PhD period, you must take three doctoral training sessions (typically 30 hours/year):

technical training (French or English, preparation for the defense, scientific vulgarization, …)
    scientific training.
professional insertion (Doctoriales, how to prepare job interviews, …)

The technical and professional insertion sessions are organized by the institutes in the "collège doctoral de l'Université Paris-Saclay" (http://www.universite-paris-saclay.fr/fr/Doctorat/Mon-doctorat-mes-demar...).

During the first year, you can have an individual interview with the "Stage Orientation et Insertion professionnelle" office at the Ecole polytechnique in order to help you build your professional project

Every year in fall, the ED organizes a special day "la journée d'accueil de l'ED". During this day, you will have an information session, a scientific seminar and the possibility to meet other PhD students. Second-year students are requested to prepare a poster where they present their work. Assistance to this day is mandatory.

Concours et sujets de thèse

You can find propositions of PhD subjects on the website. However, before applying to the subject, please contact the thesis director. Applications without specific agreement from the thesis director will not be considered.

Soutenance
