M2 Pharmacologie Préclinique, Pharmacologie clinique et Pharmacocinétique

Master's degree
Specialisation Pharmaceutical Science
Full-time academic programmes
French

The program aims to train scientists skilled in the concepts and methodologies of

  • the discovery of new therapeutic targets;
  • the design and optimization of the use of effective drugs while ensuring patient safety.

The Master 2 program prepares students for research careers in academic or industrial environments, as well as for various positions where scientific expertise will be valued (medical affairs, innovation , etc.).

The training is organized into four blocks:

  1. Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics: Therapeutic Drug Monitoring of the Patient (8 ECTS credits)
  2. Experimental Pharmacology Track (choice of Cardiovascular track or Neuropharmacology track) (12 ECTS credits)
  3. Designing and Conducting a Research Project (10 ECTS credits)
  4. Research Internship (30 ECTS credits)

Some courses are shared with the Master 2 Bioinnov program at Paris-Saclay University.

Skills

+ Cross-functional Skills

  • Mobilize and produce highly specialized knowledge
  • Implement specialized communication for knowledge transfer

+ Scientific Skills

  • Identify targets or biomarkers through the analysis of biological mechanisms and pathological processes
  • Plan, design, and conduct biological assays to evaluate a health product
  • Design and implement a non-clinical or clinical study of a health product
  • Evaluate the benefit-to-risk ratio of a health product
  • Conduct a Therapeutic Pharmacologic Monitoring approach
  • Argue the relevance of scientific and strategic choices, including ethical and/or professional conduct aspects

Objectives

+ Scientific Objectives:

To train students in the research and development of health products by providing them with the scientific background necessary to understand the continuum from the discovery of biological targets to therapeutic pharmacological monitoring of patients.

+ Professional Objectives:

To acquire the scientific and cross-disciplinary skills required by future executives in the pharmaceutical research and development sector in academia, industry, or hospitals.

This master's degree is not intended to train students in the organization and monitoring of clinical trials (clinical research assistants/attaches, clinical study technicians, etc.)

Target Audience and Entry Requirements

  • students who have completed a Master's degree in Health Product and Drug Sciences or a related field (e.g., Biology, Biology-Health) at a university offering a level of education comparable to that of the Université Paris-Saclay, in France or in European Union countries;
  • students who have completed studies in Health (Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science) in the European Union (and universities with an agreement), having completed the fifth year of study or an equivalent Master's degree;
  • students with an engineering degree equivalent to a Master's degree;
  • students from the INSERM School for research-oriented programs.

In all cases, admission will require validation of specific knowledge prerequisites by the Master's degree director: pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug and health product R&D. In this context, an interview with the candidate may be considered.
