The Master’s program in Sport Management trains future executives in the sports sector, preparing them to understand and support contemporary transformations in management. Focused on the adaptability and innovation of public, private, and non-profit stakeholders, the program covers key areas of the sports field: event management, facility management, territorial development, and the promotion of sports participation.
The Master’s program in Sport Management offers a comprehensive and contemporary curriculum focused on understanding current management dynamics and fostering the ability of public, non-profit, and private actors in the sports sector to adapt and innovate. In a context where sport represents a major economic, social, and territorial driver, this program aims to train future executives capable of operating effectively within complex and constantly evolving environments.
The program approaches sport through a broad and multidisciplinary lens: event management in all its dimensions (political, social, organizational, economic, managerial, marketing, legal, and sporting); the design and management of sports facilities and venues; strategies for community engagement and territorial development; as well as the promotion and expansion of sports participation.

Objectives
This program takes into account contemporary developments in management and focuses on the ability of public, non-profit, and private actors to adapt and innovate, particularly in the following areas:
- Event management in the broadest sense, approached from all its dimensions — political, social, organizational, economic, managerial, marketing, legal, and sporting;
- The design and management of sports facilities and venues;
- Strategies for local development and community engagement;
- The development of sports participation and practices.
The primary objective of the Master’s 1 in Sports Management is to train students who aim to work primarily in managerial positions such as research officer, project or product manager, public sector consultant, communication or marketing officer within professional sports organizations (federations, clubs, organizing committees, etc.), business executive, consultant, and so on.
In this perspective, the program enables students to develop the skills required to participate in the definition of policies and strategies, as well as in the management, development, and organization of sports events and projects (or projects related to sport). In particular, students are expected to acquire the following skills:
- Analysis (assessment, diagnosis, audit, etc.);
- Consulting (drafting recommendations, etc.);
- Management (strategy, implementation, monitoring, evaluation of projects, etc.).
The program also aims to address the profound transformations in the issues surrounding sports policies.
Partnerships have been established with all key institutional actors in the sector (the State, federations, private organizers, local authorities, associations, public interest groups, sponsors, media, and sports goods distributors).
The location in Orsay (close to the western suburbs of Paris, where many decision-making centers are concentrated) offers great richness in the teaching content, thanks to the involvement of professionals in the program.
In terms of teaching structure, the first year of the Master’s program is organized around five main components:
- Lectures delivered by university professors;
- Contributions from industry professionals;
- Organization of a sports event;
- Completion of research studies;
- A long-term internship.
