Université Paris-Saclay and Stellenbosch University strengthen academic and scientific cooperation
During an institutional mission to the Western Cape Province of South Africa, led by Valérie Pécresse, President of the Île-de-France Region, Université Paris-Saclay signed a framework agreement with Stellenbosch University (SU) to enhance academic and scientific collaboration.
The signing of this agreement, formalised by Mehran Mostafavi, Vice-President for Research at Université Paris-Saclay, Deresh Ramjugernath, Rector and Vice-Chancellor of Stellenbosch University, and Valérie Pécresse, marks an important milestone in the partnership between the two institutions.
This collaboration aims to promote the mobility of students and researchers, support the development of joint research and innovation projects, and encourage academic exchanges in shared strategic areas, such as global health, sustainability, and scientific innovation.
"Our collaboration will enable us to jointly develop solutions to global challenges", said Mehran Mostafavi at the signing, highlighting the alignment of the scientific and societal ambitions of the two universities.
The signing of this framework agreement is fully in line with the external strategy of the European alliance EUGLOH on global health, which Université Paris-Saclay coordinates, and in which Stellenbosch University could soon become an associated partner. It also reflects the commitment of both institutions to strengthen strategic partnerships between Europe and Africa, with the support of the Île-de-France Region and the Western Cape Province.
