On 3 July, Mathilde Grelon joined the ranks of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) as a newly elected member.

Mathilde Grelon, research director at INRAE and head of the Meiosis Mechanisms (MeioMe) team at the Jean-Pierre Bourgin Institute (IJPB - Université Paris-Saclay/INRAE/AgroParisTech), has been elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). In this capacity, she will contribute to the organisation’s activities, in particular the promotion of research, scientific training, and the development of exchanges between scientists at European and global level.

After completing a PhD devoted to the mechanisms of OGURA cytoplasmic male sterility, carried out under the supervision of Georges Pelletier at Université Paris XI (now Université Paris-Saclay), Mathilde Grelon has dedicated her entire career to the study of the mechanisms governing meiotic division. She subsequently undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra, Australia, before joining INRA in Versailles as a researcher, first at the Station for Plant Genetics and Breeding (SGAP), and later at the Jean-Pierre Bourgin Institute.
