Marc Humbert elected honorary foreign member of the National Academy of Medicine of Buenos Aires

Doyen de la Faculté de médecine Paris-Saclay, directeur de l’unité Hypertension pulmonaire : physiopathologie et innovation thérapeutique (HPPIT – Univ. Paris-Saclay/Inserm), chef du service de pneumologie et soins intensifs respiratoires de l’hôpital Bicêtre (AP-HP), et professeur de pneumologie spécialisé dans l’hypertension artérielle pulmonaire (HTAP), Marc Humbert a été élu à l'unanimité membre étranger honoraire de l'Académie nationale de médecine de Buenos Aires (Argentine) par l'Assemblée de l'Académie, lors d’une séance privée s’étant tenue le 27 novembre 2025.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Université Paris-Saclay, Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension: Pathophysiology and Therapeutic Innovation Unit (HPPIT - Université Paris-Saclay/Inserm), Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Intensive Care at Bicêtre Hospital (AP-HP), and Professor of Respiratory Medicine specialising in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), Marc Humbert was unanimously elected an honorary foreign member of the National Academy of Medicine of Buenos Aires (Argentina) by the Academy’s Assembly, at a private session held on 27 November 2025.

He was officially inducted on 25 June, during a special session attended by the French Ambassador to Argentina, Romain Nadal, the President of the Academy of Medicine, Jorge Neira, and Professor Juan Antonio Mazzei, Honorary President and President of International Relations at the National Academy of Medicine of Buenos Aires.

As part of the session, Marc Humbert gave a lecture entitled “Pulmonary hypertension: from Abel Ayerza to the present day”, in which he highlighted the longstanding and strong ties between France and Argentina in the medical field, particularly in pulmonary hypertension. He also paid tribute to the career of Professor Abel Ayerza (1861–1918), a key figure linking the two countries.
