EUGLOH and Saclay United Nations organised diplomacy days for students from across Europe

From 27 to 29 November 2025, the European alliance EUGLOH and the student association Saclay United Nations once again joined forces to organise a Model United Nations (MUN) simulation, during which participants represented countries in debates modelled on the WHO (World Health Organization).

The EUGLOH alliance enables students, researchers and staff to engage with experts from various fields across Europe, while addressing global health through a multidisciplinary approach that draws on contributions from all areas of study. While the first edition in May 2025 brought together only students from Paris-Saclay, this new edition went beyond borders: around twenty students from the EUGLOH alliance were able to take on the role of real diplomats during two days of debates at Paris-Saclay, before concluding the event with a cultural visit to UNESCO House.

High-level negotiations: where diplomacy meets determination

In an atmosphere that was both serious and friendly, participants embraced their roles with conviction and engaged in constructive, in-depth discussions with the occasional touch of humour. This successful combination created a dynamic and stimulating learning environment, enabling students to sharpen their leadership skills, critical thinking and English-language communication. The organisers were impressed by the quality of the debates and negotiations. To celebrate these outstanding performances, five certificates were awarded: Best Delegate, Most Improved and three Honourable Mentions.

Cultural stop: UNESCO opens its doors

On the final day, Saturday 29 November, the students had the privilege of exploring the iconic spaces of UNESCO House (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in Paris during an exclusive guided tour.

Architects of a diplomatic success story

This event was orchestrated by a dynamic trio: Elisabeth Salamé and Jad Habib, both third-year students in the joint "Law and Computer Science" programme at Université Paris-Saclay and respectively president and vice-president of the Saclay United Nations (SUN) association, and Jade Missakian, EUGLOH ambassador and a master’s student in Strategy and International Management.

Looking forward to the next edition!

This is just the beginning for our budding diplomats: further editions focused on global health are planned to allow as many students as possible from Paris-Saclay and other EUGLOH member universities to benefit from this enriching experience!

Working together, listening openly and finding common ground are not only diplomatic skills, but essential life tools. This experience allowed me to develop skills in negotiation, policy writing and intercultural collaboration, while participating in a debate focused on data transparency, the funding system of international organisations such as the WHO, and its priorities.
