Entry formalities in France for international students and researchers

You are an international student or researcher coming to France for a long or short stay. Depending on your country of origin and your vaccination status, the procedures that apply when entering France may vary.

We recommend that you get fully vaccinated before leaving your country to make it easier to enter and live in France. Countries have been classified based on various health indicators. The list of countries is regularly updated : consult the classification before your departure on the website of ministry of internal affairs

You are vaccinated with a vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA):

  • If you are coming from a ‘green’, ‘orange’ or ‘red’ country

You can enter the French territory without any condition of isolation upon arrival.

You must provide proof of full vaccination and a sworn statement that you have not had any symptoms of covid- 19 infection or contact with a confirmed case in the last 14 days before departure

If you wish, you can inform the student health service of your full vaccination status ( Send proof) by e-mail (sante- etudiants@universite-paris-saclay.fr ), which will prevent you from being considered as a COVID19 ‘contact’ in the case of a cluster in your course.


You are not vaccinated or you are vaccinated with a vaccine not approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA):

  • If you are coming from a ‘green’ country

You must provide an antigenic or PCR test of less than 72 hours old and a sworn statement that you have had no symptoms of covid-19 infection and no contact with a confirmed case in the 14 days before departure.

  • If you are coming from an ‘orange’ country

You must provide an antigenic or PCR test of less than 48 hours old and a sworn statement that you have had no symptoms of covid-19 infection and no contact with a confirmed case in the 14 days preceding your departure.

You must respect a self-isolation period of 7 days after your arrival in France

  • If you are coming from a ‘red’ country

On departure, you must provide an antigenic or PCR test of less than 48 hours old, a sworn statement that you have not had any symptoms of covid-19 infection or contact with a confirmed case in the 14 days prior to departure, and a proof of accommodation stating the complete address of your accommodation when you arrive in France.
 
1.    Before your arrival in France: affiliation to the French social security system.

This exception is only available to students planning to come over from countries on the ‘red list’.

Exceptionnally, you will be able to subscribe to the French social security system from your home country. This means that you will have French health insurance coverage from the moment you arrive in France as well as easier access to vaccination.

  • Go to https://etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr/
  • Enter the requested information as if you were already in France
  • If you do not yet have an official certificate of enrollment, the certificate/ letter
  • of admission will be accepted for social security registration. All the other documents you will be asked for are mandatory.

2.    Upon  arrival in France: a 10-day quarantine is mandatory and monitored by the health authorities. You will have to:
