Call for projects
"Initiatives structurantes" 2025-2026
The GS SIS supports projects that structure the scientific community of Université Paris-Saclay in the field of engineering, which aim to initiate scientific cooperation between at least two different laboratory teams belonging to the GS SIS, likely to lead to longer-term collaboration between the teams involved. Applications for funding for theses, post-docs, small shared equipment or scientific events are eligible under this call for projects.

"Flagship" call for project
The GS SIS aims to support the development of research projects that structure the engineering community around key themes, designed to achieve high visibility, thereby creating a consortium with a clearly defined thematic focus and strong structural ambitions. At the end of the project, this could result in responses to national structuring programmes, the creation of GDRs, GIS, research federations, etc., or even the promotion of unifying themes in the form of LabCom or start-ups, for example. Flagships may follow on from initial projects such as those supported by the GS SIS through the ‘Structuring Initiatives’ call for proposals.

- Funding of up to €250,000 per year, for a period of 24 to 48 months.

GS SIS Thesis Prize
The SIS Graduate School wishes to recognise theses defended by doctors from Paris-Saclay University who are enrolled in one of the four doctoral schools within its scope (EOBE, INTERFACES, SMEMAG, STIC) and who defended their thesis between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023.
The aim of this thesis prize, worth two thousand euros, is to recognise the best theses according to several criteria (see document below). The jury also reserves the right to honour certain outstanding works with a maximum of two runner-up prizes worth up to one thousand euros.
How to apply:

List of external calls for projects at Université Paris-Saclay on Open4research
Open4Research is a monitoring tool that allows you to target funding opportunities related to your project. With more than 7,000 funding opportunities listed internationally and regularly updated, Open4Research is one of the most comprehensive databases available. Currently, all researchers from laboratories affiliated with Paris-Saclay University, AgroParisTech or UEVE can use it.
International
Setting up a European project
As a researcher or teacher-researcher, you can set up a European project:
- in education: via Erasmus+ and the Erasmus+ agency
- or in research: via Horizon Europe.
International Doctoral Actions (ADI)
As part of the international joint supervision funding programme, Paris-Saclay University offers financial support to doctoral students for joint supervision with an international partner institution.
The International Doctoral Actions (ADI) provided by IDEX Paris-Saclay are primarily intended to fund the remuneration of successful doctoral students.
Encourage your doctoral students to be mobile during their thesis
If you want to encourage your doctoral students to be mobile, you can:
- set up an initiative via Erasmus+ and the Erasmus+ agency with specific support from the EUGLOH Alliance
- Encourage your doctoral students to gain experience in Europe if you have a network: you can benefit from the ‘European Doctorate’ label (3-month stay in Europe) and the Erasmus+ grant for doctoral students.
Go to Europe to teach via Erasmus+
Erasmus+ mobility programmes enable lecturers and researchers to undertake a teaching assignment or training period in Europe and around the world (minimum assignment of 8 hours). The success rate (for well-designed projects) is very high.
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore new teaching methods and take advantage of mobility programmes to build a research network in Europe.
Leave and reduced teaching hours for the internationalisation of your teaching
In order to support the development of pedagogical innovations that contribute to a pedagogical transformation of training programmes in line with improved student success, several measures are available to teachers:
- Leave for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP)
- Teaching Quality Bonus (BQP)
- Leave for Teaching Projects (CPP)
- Calls for Teaching Innovation Projects

Welcoming your international students and doctoral students
All international students and doctoral students at Paris-Saclay University can receive support before and during their studies in France from:
- GATE (Guichet d’Accueil des Talents Étrangers) is a one-stop shop offering comprehensive, free services for all administrative and relocation procedures (residence permits, bank accounts, financial aid, etc.).
- Welcome Desk
Composition of the GS SIS Scientific Council
The Scientific Council (SC) of the GS SIS supports the scientific coordination and structuring of engineering research at Université Paris-Saclay. - Entrepreneurial Packages in English (Pitches, Website Proofing)
Authorisation to supervise research (HDR)
The Authorisation to supervise research ("Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches - HDR") is the highest national qualification in higher education. It recognises the candidate's high scientific level, the originality of their approach in the scientific field, their ability to master a sufficiently broad research strategy, and their capacity to supervise young researchers.
In particular, it allows candidates to apply for a position as a university professor.
If you wish to obtain your HDR, please visit the university's website for information on the procedure to follow.
