Course description

The Private Law specialization, very attractive to students (around 1,900 applications on MonMaster), is a natural extension of the private law option of the licence de droit, and offers general knowledge with specializations in Master 2. It prepares students for a wide range of legal careers, particularly in the courts, by expanding on the subjects studied in the licence to provide polyvalent jurists.

    • Construct a legal argument with rigor, mastering the main argumentative techniques.

  • Overall organisation

The Private Law specialization offers general legal knowledge in private law, with the aim of equipping students with a wide range of skills for careers in business, the legal profession, administration and research. The program offers a core curriculum in Master 1, with an in-depth study of private law and special subjects, followed by three courses in Master 2: two specialized ("Contract Law”, “Legal Professions”) and one generalist (“Fundamental Private Law”). English courses are included in all courses.

    Learning outcome targets

The Private Law specialization is specifically designed to provide both general and specialized legal knowledge in the field of private law, in line with the expectations of students and the job market. Structured around a generalist Master 1 with specialized options and two specialized Master 2s ( Contract Law, Judicial Professions), as well as a generalist Master 2 (Fundamental Private Law), it provides effective preparation for judicial examinations and competitions, while opening up prospects in university research, high-level legal professions and judicial careers.

    Target audience

A licence law is required, with the option of private law recommended. The Master's degree in Private Law is a continuation of the licence option “droit privé”, which completes the training of a general lawyer.

    Special study arrangements

The university arranges studies and examinations for students with a handicap. The course adopts the university's rules.
