The M2 Toxicology Exposome Health course is an environmental toxicology course. It provides a solid foundation for understanding the mechanisms of action of pollutants and assessing their impacts on health, while also addressing regulatory aspects.
The programme comprises compulsory teaching units and units chosen from a list of teaching units offered by the M2 TES, as well as a project (case study analysis for the ‘Professional’ stream or research project for the ‘Research’ stream), supplemented by a 6-month internship (in a company or research laboratory).
Information
Skills
Comprehensively interpret current concerns in toxicology and safety (drug and cosmetic safety, air and water quality, food quality, work environments) in order to address challenges related to human health while respecting the environment.
Objectives
The specialisation in toxicology, exposome and health (TES) aims to train students from different backgrounds (biologists, doctors, pharmacists, veterinarians, agricultural engineers, environmental engineers and chemists) as well as professionals. The main objective is training in the field of environmental toxicology:
• Study of human exposure to environmental pollutants present in the atmosphere, water, food or in the workplace;
• Understanding their mechanisms of action, identifying health impacts, environmental epidemiology, predictive toxicology and environmental health risk assessment.

Target Audience and Entry Requirements
Access to the M2 TES programme for scientists is preferably via the M1 programme in toxicology and ecotoxicology at the University of Paris. However, students from the ‘Cell Biology, Physiology, Pathology’ programme at the University of Paris, ‘Science, Technology and Health’ at the University of Paris, ‘Biology, Health’ or ‘Environmental Science and Engineering’ at Paris-Est Créteil, and ‘Food and Bioproducts, Nutrition and Health’ at AgroParisTech, or any other master's programme that allows them to meet the prerequisites, may also apply. Medical students, particularly those specialising in occupational medicine, may be admitted to the M2 TES programme provided they also meet certain prerequisites. The prerequisites cover the following areas:
• metabolism and transport of xenobiotics and pharmacokinetics;
• analytical chemistry;
• histology and morphology;
• molecular biology;
• cell biology;
• macromolecular targets of xenobiotics;
• cellular stress;
• concepts of statistics and epidemiology;
• concepts of basic physiology (organs, development, interactions between organs). If necessary, students will be required to take a compulsory refresher course at the beginning of the year in order to meet these prerequisites.
Application Period(s)
From 07/04/2026 to 29/05/2026
