The Master 2 SMC program includes internships and supervised projects, which form an essential part of the training:

  • Long-term internship in a company or research laboratory:
    • Duration: typically 4 to 6 months.
    • Objective: provide students with significant practical experience, applying simulation methods, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence to materials science.
    • Supervision: guided by an academic tutor and a professional mentor.
  • Supervised laboratory projects:
    • Conducted individually or in small groups.
    • Allow students to work on concrete research or engineering problems.
    • Develop skills in modeling, data analysis, and scientific programming.
    • Results are presented through scientific reports and oral defenses.
  • Educational objectives:
    • Integrate theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired during the program.
    • Develop autonomy, scientific rigor, and transversal skills (communication, project management, teamwork).
    • Prepare students for PhD studies or entry into the industrial sector.

The M2 in Computational Materials Science program offers highly specialized training focused on simulation and the application of artificial intelligence in various fields of materials science. In particular, students will learn the main methods and algorithms of Machine Learning and High-Performance Computing, integrated with traditional simulation methods for materials. A long-term internship provides substantial academic or industrial experience in the field, and an international dimension is offered through elective courses available in the programs of the Universities of Rome and Athens.
