POPS, open press of Université Paris-Saclay

The dissemination of knowledge is central to our university's mission to advance research. Firmly committed to open science, Université Paris-Saclay has made open access to all of its scientific publications its primary objective.

In this context, Université Paris-Saclay  will launch its university press, POPS, in 2026.

These non-commercial presses will make their publications freely available to the scientific community and the general public.

They will cover all of the university's disciplines: science and engineering, life and health sciences, and humanities and social sciences. Emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity.

POPS, scientific presses

The POPS will disseminate scientific research findings in accordance with the principles of research ethics and transparency. Content will be peer-reviewed to ensure scientific rigor.

All disciplines taught at the University will be covered:

  • science and engineering (mathematics, physics, etc.)
  • life and health sciences (biology, pharmacy, medicine, etc.)
  • humanities and social sciences (history, law, economics, etc.)
  • interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity are encouraged.

The following will be published:

  • scientific journals (peer-reviewed): existing or in the process of being created,
  • books and textbooks,
  • conference proceedings.

POPS, publishers committed to Open Science

POPS will be native digital publications and will not be available in print or commercially.

POPS will be open diamond journals: content will be freely accessible, with no consultation fees and no embargo. Authors will not pay publication fees (APCs) to be published.

The presses will be a tool for bibliodiversity, helping the scientific community move towards this virtuous economic model. Science is a common good, and it is therefore essential that scientific work be made freely available to as many people as possible.

The POPS teams will support the scientific community in improving quality to meet open science standards (referencing, open archives, distribution licenses, etc.).

POPS, shared presses

POPS are shared among all member institutions of the Alliance "Université Paris-Saclay".
