Université Paris-Saclay is among the partner institutions of the Lafayette Fellowship, a prestigious scholarship programme for American students wishing to pursue a master’s degree in France. This initiative, led by the French Embassy in the United States, was officially launched by the President of the Republic on Tuesday 23 September 2025 at Villa Albertine, the French cultural centre in New York: “This scholarship is a story of trust and youth,” emphasised President Emmanuel Macron.

Created to celebrate two and a half centuries of Franco-American friendship on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Lafayette Fellowship aims to train a new generation of transatlantic leaders. Each year, it will enable up to 30 exceptional American students to receive funding for one year of master’s studies in France. Recipients will benefit from an outstanding immersion and mentorship programme led by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE).

Open to both French-speaking and non-French-speaking students, the programme relies on a network of fifteen leading French higher education institutions, offering a wide range of programmes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as in the arts and humanities and social sciences.

Paris-Saclay Université, its four founding member schools (AgroParisTech, CentraleSupélec, École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay, and Institut d’Optique Graduate School), and its two associated member universities (University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and University of Évry) are partners of the Lafayette Fellowship, alongside other prestigious institutions such as HEC Paris, Sorbonne University, Paris Cité University, Sciences Po, Toulouse School of Economics, and the University of Strasbourg.

By strengthening the international visibility of French higher education in the United States, the Lafayette Fellowship highlights the quality and academic excellence of its partner universities, with Université Paris-Saclay at the forefront, regularly ranked among the best in the world.
