Exhibition Virtual One Health: a virtual exhibition to raise awareness about Global Health

Education Article published on 29 July 2021 , Updated on 26 August 2021

The European University EUGLOH, European University Alliance for Global Health, brings together five key European research universities: Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Germany), Lund University (Sweden), the University of Porto (Portugal), the University of Szeged (Hungary) and Université Paris-Saclay (France).

In the Virtual One Health Exhibition, researchers from the five universities present their research projects in areas related to Global Health. These projects respect a unique One Health approach, as they concern human health as well as the health of flora, fauna and ecosystems more generally.

The aim of this virtual exhibition is to introduce some of the several challenges related to Global Health in a fun way to a wide range of audiences (such as English-speaking high school students or French-speaking students learning English).

The exhibition is structured around three steps:

  1. Discovering the different subjects studied
  2. An online 10-question quiz
  3. Suggested discussion/essay topics, to be adapted to your audience

What are the benefits for learners?

In the current global context, it is important to help young people understand the link between different human actions and their impact on the world. This is one of the missions of the European University EUGLOH.

We want to educate the generations of future European citizens so that they are able to provide answers to the global challenges of today and tomorrow. Therefore, the aim of this virtual exhibition is to raise awareness about Global Health issues.

Learners will improve their knowledge about the world around them while enriching their English vocabulary. They also have the opportunity to discover an interest in an area of scientific research. Teachers can draw inspiration from the exhibition's main themes to develop ideas or rework their content and lessons, based on the topics proposed following the exhibition.

How is this virtual exhibition organised?

The exhibition is divided into six parts. The first part, “Introduction to One Health”, gives an overview of what One Health is all about. The following sections focus on specific research topics: "Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria", "No Pest Project", "Health effects of pollen of invasive plants", "Occupational safety and health in small-scale fisheries", "Ultramafic Ecosystems" and "Allergic symptoms appear on students during a trip".

After this phase of discovering the topics, tools allowing students to deepen their understanding of topics are proposed:

  • a Kahoot, a 10-question quiz
  • essay and debate topics
  • a glossary

Finally, two surveys are provided at the end of the page to collect feedback about the exhibition.
