EUGLOH and Saclay United Nations come together for a successful day of diplomacy at Université Paris-Saclay
On 15 May 2025, the European university alliance EUGLOH and the student association Saclay United Nations co-organised a model international diplomacy event for the university’s students, inspired by debates held at the United Nations (UN).
Entitled “Rebuilding Health Infrastructure in Post-Conflict Zones: International Responsibilities and Strategic Coordination”, the event gave a dozen students the opportunity to take on the role of a UN diplomat for the day.
The participants, who stepped into the shoes of UN delegate officers for the day, were able to take part in a thrilling diplomacy role play exercise to defend the interests of the various countries represented, related to the topic “Rebuilding Health Infrastructure in Post-Conflict Zones: International Responsibilities and Strategic Coordination”.
In a professional but relaxed atmosphere, the students took their mission seriously and took part in relevant and thoughtful discussion, sometimes with a touch of humour. This balanced approach created an ideal environment for learning and engagement, and gave them the chance to develop their negotiation and public speaking skills in English. The quality of the debates and negotiations impressed the organisers. Six certificates were awarded for Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, Most Improved, and three special honours.
The event was coordinated by Jad Habib, a second year student of the double degree Law & Computer Science at Université Paris-Saclay and president of the association Saclay United Nations (SUN), as well as Jade Missakian, EUGLOH ambassador and second year Master’s student in International Strategy and Management.
The success of this first edition of the event paves the way for even bigger perspectives. The event’s organisers are already considering another edition on a European scale, thanks to a collaboration with a EUGLOH partner university.
