Objectives

To meet research needs in Reproduction and Development, we offer a programme derived from and supporting research in this field. The second year of our Master’s degree aims to train students in the concepts, methods, and practices of fundamental, clinical and applied research.


It pursues several goals:
- acquiring modern concepts and multidisciplinary methods of research in Biology and specifically in Reproduction & Development;
- developing critical skills, common sense and intuition;
- developing skills in analysis and synthesis;
- developing teamwork skills and a sense of collective responsibility;
- developing communication and oral skills.

This programme is based on the science and health courses of the Master 1 Biology-Health degree. All courses are pooled in Master 1 and organised into platforms (course options), grouped into five main science fields. The recommended platforms in Master 1 are:
- physiology and physiopathology;
- genetics, molecular and cellular biology.

Course Prerequisites

Students who have completed the Master in Integrative Biology Physiology M1 (Université de Paris), or the Master in Biology-Health. (Université Paris-Saclay). INAPG and ENVA students who have completed the Master M1. Students who hold an M1 Master of Science in Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry or Genetics from a University that provides a comparable level of education in France (Ecole de l'INSERM School, ENS) or abroad. Students in Medicine, Pharmacy or Maieutics with an M1 or equivalent

Skills
  • Starting from a study of the scientific literature, to design and develop a scientific research or development project under the supervision of a scientist in the field of Reproduction and Development.

  • Perform the experimental procedures required to execute the research or development project and analyse the experimental data generated (potentially via computer processing) for the outcome of the research or development project.

  • Orally present experimental results to peers in French and English, and debate with peers in both languages.

  • Write a scientific article in collaboration with the science supervisor.

  • Develop the ability to work in a team and a cultivate a sense of collective responsibility.

  • Develop analytical skills and the ability to summarise.

Post-graduate profile

Career prospects

The vast majority of students from a medical background complete their internship and some start a thesis in Sciences.
The majority of students from a scientific background take one of three paths:
- Doctoral thesis
- Further training in order to acquire dual qualifications (Bioinformatics, marketing, business school, clinical research associate, etc.)
- Entry into working life (Study engineer in the private or public sector, scientific journalism, etc.)

Programme

Le parcours ReproDev apporte une formation multidisciplinaire qui intègre tous les niveaux de la recherche : approche fondamentale et clinique dans le domaine de la reproduction et du développement. Ces enseignements reposent sur l'étude des molécules jusqu'aux phénotypes, replacés dans les mécanismes normaux, perturbés ou pathologiques.
Le 1er semestre du M2 ReproDev repose sur des enseignements théoriques dispensés sous la forme de conférences effectuées par des enseignants chercheurs, des médecins ou pharmaciens et des chercheurs tous spécialistes dans leur domaine.
Ce 1er semestre vise également à développer les capacités de synthèse et l'esprit critique des étudiants à travers la présentation de leur projet de stage (3 ECTS), la présentation et l'analyse d'articles scientifiques sous la forme d'un séminaire (6 ECTS) et la capacité à s'exprimer en anglais (3 ECTS).

Le second semestre repose sur un stage de recherche de 6 mois. Il vise à former les étudiants par la recherche pour la recherche. Les objectifs sont :
-Acquisition des connaissances nécessaires pour réaliser une thèse de sciences dans le domaine de la reproduction humaine et du développement, ou intégrer le monde professionnel (recherche et développement en entreprise pharmaceutique).
-Mise en œuvre d'une démarche scientifique. Concevoir et développer un projet de recherche scientifique.
-Effectuer les manipulations expérimentales nécessaires à la réalisation du projet de recherche ou de développement et analyser les données expérimentales produites pour l'aboutissement du projet de recherche ou de développement.
-Communication orale en français et en anglais. Rédaction d'un mémoire. Aptitude à argumenter et débattre.
