Don’t miss out on the chance to follow a live conversation between Thomas Pesquet and local secondary school and university students! The famous French astronaut will be answering the students’ questions live from space, during a special event which will begin at 12.30pm. The event will be hosted by Fred Courant, the host of the science TV programme L’Esprit Sorcier. A panel of special guests will also be attending, including Claudie Haigneré, Raphaël Haumont and Thierry Marx, who will answer your questions on space exploration and life on the International Space Station (ISS).

On 17 June 2021, aboard the International Space Station, Thomas Pesquet will fly over the Université Paris-Saclay campus. To mark the occasion, as part of the Amateur Radio on the ISS programme (ARISS), the Collège Albert Camus de la Norville secondary school and Université Paris-Saclay have been chosen with the amateur radio club, F5KEE, based in Viry-Châtillon in Essonne, to organise a radio contact with Thomas Pesquet.

The event will begin at 12.30pm with the radio contact scheduled for 1.40pm. You can follow the live event on the University’s YouTube channel.

To allow as many as people as possible to enjoy this unique moment, Université Paris-Saclay is organising a special event as part of the radio contact. The event will be broadcast live on the University’s YouTube channel and hosted by Fred Courant, a French journalist and host of the science TV programme L’Esprit Sorcier.

The programme:

In the Michelin auditorium at CentraleSupélec, students from several local secondary schools will be able to follow the live radio contact with Thomas Pesquet. Some 15 secondary school and university students will get the chance to ask the astronaut their questions live.

Fred Courant from the science TV programme l’Esprit Sorcier will host this unique event, accompanied by a panel of special guests. The former astronaut Claudie Haigneré will be attending the event remotely and will share her experience on the ISS. The physical chemistry professor and researcher, Raphaël Haumont, and the Michelin-starred chef, Thierry Marx, will talk about the meals they prepared for the astronaut’s flight to space. Various members of the European Space Agency (ESA) will also explain how space missions are organised.

The event will be broadcast live on the University’s YouTube channel.
