SCIENCE À LA COQUE: Running, walking, living: how to protect your joints throughout your life?
"Science à la coque" is a series of mini-lectures held in partnership with the Paris-Saclay Agglomeration Community. Lecture on joint health by Prof. Francis Berenbaum.
Auditorium, Bâtiment Lumen, 8 avenue des Sciences à Gif sur YvetteOur joints stay with us throughout our lives, yet how they function remains poorly understood and is often surrounded by misconceptions. Does exercise damage the knees? Should you stop running if you develop osteoarthritis? Can joint pain be prevented?
Using an accessible approach grounded in current scientific data, Professor Francis Berenbaum will explain how joints work, why osteoarthritis develops, and—above all—why physical activity is a cornerstone of joint health.
Coinciding with the Paris-Saclay Autumn Marathon, this lecture will demonstrate that joint health is built over the long term, helping to preserve one’s joint integrity for as long as possible.
The session will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing for *Le Grand Livre de l’Arthrose* (The Great Book of Osteoarthritis).
