Exhibition on participatory science: "Ensemble au cœur des sciences"

2025-11-07 08:30 2026-01-06 22:30 Exhibition on participatory science: "Ensemble au cœur des sciences"

The Lumen is hosting Sorbonne University's exhibition Ensemble au coeur des sciences, which highlights participatory science and research projects where scientists and citizens work together to better understand our world.

Participatory science and research projects facilitate the involvement of a multitude of actors, enabling the mobilization of both individual and collective knowledge. In order to address complex scientific issues, researchers must collect quantitative and qualitative data on a large spatial and temporal scale. Citizens' motivations are varied, including curiosity, commitment, and interest in science and the scientific process.

Digital tools help make these kinds of partnerships happen by combining artificial intelligence and collective intelligence. It's important for citizens and scientists to work together to understand the scientific, technological, ethical, and legal issues involved in research. This will help them be stakeholders in responding to major social and environmental challenges.

This initiative is undertaken in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History.

The exhibition is also part of a series of events:
- Thursday, November 13: Lecture by Sylvain Bouley, “The story of a meteorite unlike any other,” on the VigieCiel/FRIPON project. For more information: link.
- Tuesday, November 25: Lunch-and-learn conference on microbiota as part of the French Gut project. More information and registration coming soon.
- Saturday, December 06: Conference on feeding birds in winter as part of the BirdLab project. More information coming soon.
