The M2 Governance of Ecological and Social Transition (GTES) aims to train project managers to create the conditions for a highly sustainable ecological transition. Students are future professionals who will be confronted with an increasingly uncertain Earth system, marked by irreversible changes (biodiversity, climate, inequalities, etc.). The M2 GTES helps to develop skills that facilitate consideration of the interactions between human and natural environments, with a view to establishing mutual co-evolution. The approach is based on the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge (political science, heritage strategy, ecology, law and economics) and specific methods (heritage auditing, project management, etc.).

Identify the key elements of an ecological transition policy (complementarity of sociological, economic, legal and ecological approaches).
Conduct a reflective and detached analysis taking into account the challenges, issues and complexity of a request or situation in order to propose appropriate and/or innovative solutions in line with regulatory developments
Design, lead and monitor all operations relating to the implementation of a territorial development project that may require multidisciplinary skills in a collaborative framework and assume responsibility for them

Students are future professionals who will be confronted with an increasingly uncertain ‘Earth’ system, marked by irreversibilities (biodiversity, climate, inequalities, etc.). The M2 GTES helps to develop skills that facilitate consideration of the interactions between human and natural environments, in order to establish mutual co-evolution. The approach is based on the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge (political science, heritage strategy, ecology, law and economics) and specific approaches (heritage auditing, project management). The teaching methods emphasise the confrontation of knowledge and collective work. The Master's programme can support students who wish to pursue a career in research.

Target Audience and Entry Requirements
Have a Master's degree in social sciences (political science, sociology, economics, geography, etc.) or in life and earth sciences (biology, ecology, agronomy, etc.) and be interested in political ecology issues. Be able to understand technical issues related to the transition. The Master's programme only accepts a maximum of 20 students. We have to review many applications... Therefore, you must prepare yours carefully (cover letter, etc.). Your results from previous years will be taken into account. It is also important to highlight the consistency between your initial background and the objectives of the programme. You can highlight the courses you have taken, your experiences abroad, internships, and also any community involvement that is relevant to the Master's programme. Finally, it is important to clearly state your professional ambitions (subject areas, types of activities, etc.). The Master's programme is open to all students who meet the equivalency requirements set by Paris-Saclay (Decree No. 2016-672 of 25 May 2016 relating to the national Master's degree).
