CROUS need-based grant

The grant is awarded by the Versailles CROUS for one academic year. Please note: renewal is not automatic. You must apply each year via the student portal: https://www.messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr/envole/

  • Criteria : 
    • Student who is a national of a Member State of the European Union
      • either have held a full-time or part-time job in France,
      • or your father, mother, or legal guardian has received income in France,
      • or you can prove more than one year of residence in France as of September 1 of year N, or schooling in France during the year preceding the application, or family ties in France.
    • Student of another nationality (situation assessed as of September 1)
      • either have refugee status recognized by OFPRA,
      • or benefit from subsidiary or temporary protection granted by OFPRA,
      • have stateless status,
      • or be an Andorran previously enrolled in a French high school in the principality,
      • or hold a valid residence permit, and
      • have been residing in France for at least 2 years, and
      • provide proof of being attached to a tax household (mother, father, or legal guardian) in France for at least 2 years.

Grant payments are conditional on regular attendance and participation in exams.

Specific assistance from the CROUS of Versailles for students under 35 facing particular difficulties

They come in two forms:

  • either one-time assistance for a student who is temporarily facing serious difficulties,
  • or an annual allowance granted to a student who is experiencing ongoing (long-term) difficulties.

The age limit is set at 35, including for students returning to education.

Talents Scholarships (formerly Diversity Grants for the Civil Service)

If you are enrolled in a Talent Prep class, you may qualify for the scholarship.

Talent Prep classes are designed for students and job seekers selected based on financial need, academic merit, and motivation. They provide targeted preparation for competitive public service exams, with each participant receiving enhanced mentoring support.

These programs are offered within public service schools, universities, Institutes of Political Studies, as well as general administration preparation centers or institutes (CPAG or IPAG).

Handinamique Scholarships for the success of young people with disabilities, awarded by the 100% Handinamique Federation

This scholarship program is aimed at students with disabilities and is designed to support them in continuing their studies after their final year of secondary school

The A.S.I.U. (Individual Emergency Support for University Students)

The A.S.I.U. (Individual Emergency Support for University Students) provides personalized financial assistance to students within university departments and to doctoral candidates who are experiencing difficulties. The aid is granted based on the urgency of the student’s situation. It is part of a broader social and academic support policy and aims to assist students and PhD candidates at Paris-Saclay University who are facing hardship.

  • Type of support: The assistance may cover everyday expenses, rent, study-related costs (excluding tuition fees, the CVEC contribution, and private preparatory school fees), as well as potential bank overdrafts.
  • Who is eligible? All students enrolled in initial training or in self-funded continuing education within a university department, as well as doctoral candidates at Paris-Saclay University, under the age of 35 as of October 1 of the current academic year. The age limit may be waived if the application includes a social assessment and specific justification provided by the case reviewer.
  • How to apply? ASIU applications are reviewed following an interview with a social worker from the CROUS of Versailles or with the university’s student support officer. The application is then submitted anonymously to the university’s FSDIE Social Committee.
  • How to book an appointment? To meet with a social worker from the CROUS of the Versailles academy via the student services platform:
    • Select the CROUS of Versailles
    • Select “social services”
    • Indicate your department or, if not applicable, Université Paris-Saclay
