On Thursday 9 April 2026 at 14:04, Université Paris-Saclay successfully established radio contact with Sophie Adenot, the French astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS), orbiting at an altitude of 400 kilometres above Earth.

Université Paris-Saclay organised a live radio contact on Thursday 9 April at 14:04 with the French astronaut Sophie Adenot, currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

The radio contact lasted approximately ten minutes and took place as the ISS passed over French territory. During this exchange, students from the university, as well as pupils from Collège Albert Camus, were able to ask their questions to Sophie Adenot. These pupils had been preparing for several weeks as part of their school’s “Espaces” classes.

The radio contact was the highlight of a half-day dedicated to astronomy and space exploration. The programme included short talks and interactive scientific demonstrations, offering an opportunity to explore different aspects of the space sector.

The event was streamed live on the Université Paris-Saclay YouTube channel, as well as on several campus sites. Recording and broadcasting were handled by students from the professional bachelor’s degree in sound and image techniques at the IUT de Cachan.
