Université Paris-Saclay, LPDP and the French Institute in Indonesia sign scholarship agreement
Université Paris-Saclay, the LPDP and the French Institute in Indonesia have signed a partnership agreement aimed at supporting Indonesian student mobility towards Master’s and PhD programmes. This programme will award annual scholarships to students wishing to pursue their studies at Université Paris-Saclay.
On 2 June 2026, a delegation from the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) was welcomed at Université Paris-Saclay as part of efforts to further strengthen Franco-Indonesian academic cooperation, following the state visit of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to France at the end of May.
During the Franco-Indonesian Year of Innovation, the meeting with the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, marked the announcement of a transition towards a comprehensive strategic partnership between France and Indonesia, as well as the deepening of cooperation in the fields of defence, energy, agriculture, transport, research and higher education.
Indonesia, a pool of talent for Université Paris-Saclay
As the fourth most populous country in the world with 285 million inhabitants, Indonesia has nearly 9 million students. It allocates 20% of its national budget to education. As part of its internationalisation strategy, the country is investing heavily in supporting the mobility of its top students towards leading universities worldwide.
Although France is still not among the most common destinations for beneficiaries of these programmes, it holds strong potential for development. The agreement signed with LPDP therefore represents a significant opportunity for Université Paris-Saclay to strengthen its visibility among a new generation of Indonesian talent and to consolidate its academic and scientific partnerships in a strategically important region.
A partnership bringing new opportunities for Indonesian students
This visit was marked by the signing of a partnership agreement between LPDP, Université Paris-Saclay and the French Institute in Indonesia.
The delegation included Dwi Larso, Director of Scholarships, Azman Muammar, Head of Scholarships, and Syarifa Hanoum, Education Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in France.
This agreement provides for the annual funding of 20 Master’s scholarships and 10 PhD scholarships for Indonesian students wishing to pursue their studies at Université Paris-Saclay.
New prospects for strengthening international attractiveness and student mobility
Discussions also focused on the implementation of the programme, as well as prospects for expanding cooperation with Indonesian higher education and research institutions.
This partnership aims to strengthen student mobility, the international attractiveness of Université Paris-Saclay, and scientific cooperation between France and Indonesia. Its development has benefited from the support of the French Embassy in Indonesia and all the partners involved.
