Summer School at the Graduate School of Law: growing international interest!
The Graduate School of Law’s international Summer School at Université Paris-Saclay has enjoyed growing success year after year. The steady and sustained increase in applications enabled the fourth edition, held from 15 to 19 June 2026, to bring together 26 outstanding participants: 15 students from universities belonging to the European University Alliance EUGLOH, 10 students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai, and one Université Paris-Saclay student who has been a regular participant, attending the Summer School for the third consecutive year.
The discussions were rich and wide-ranging, centred on the theme of this fourth edition, “Towards Sustainable Behaviors in the Era of Big Tech”, with a scientific committee comprising Thibault Barbieux, Director of the Collège du droit at Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines; Véronique Magnier, Director of the Graduate School of Law; Serge Pajak, Director of the M2 Innovation, Digital, Conseil at Université Paris-Saclay; Maria-José Azar Baud, Deputy Director of the Institut Droit Éthique Patrimoine at Université Paris-Saclay; Hugo Acciarri, Director of the Law, Economics, and Behavior programme at Universidad Nacional del Sur (Argentina) and Noémie Moutty, Administrative Manager of the Graduate School of Law.
The Summer School programme was structured around a different theme each day over the course of the week, alternating morning masterclasses with afternoon workshops led by speakers from EUGLOH Alliance institutions, universities in Argentina and Canada, and Université Paris-Saclay. The week provided a valuable setting for reflection on artificial intelligence applied to management and law, consumer behaviour, and what a truly sustainable robot might look like.
The contributions of guest professors Stéphane Rousseau from Université de Montréal and Istvan Juhos from the University of Szeged in Hungary, a long-standing partner of the EUGLOH Alliance, were particularly well received, as were those of the teaching and research staff from Université Paris-Saclay. The original “Young Research” format, featuring presentations of doctoral research by PhD candidates from the Alliance and our international partner institutions, also gave early-career researchers the opportunity to discuss their projects with participants through a series of debates.
Farina Dobs, a student in Communication and Information Law at the University of Hamburg (Germany), said: “I would like to warmly thank Université Paris-Saclay for the fantastic organisation of this Summer School. It was far beyond what I had imagined. I felt very welcome, everything was very well planned and extremely well organised. I had a wonderful time, and I know the others did too. And on top of that, the choice of professors was excellent!”
The fifth edition of the international Summer School will continue in 2027, with AI as its central theme. This key topic continues to transform legal and managerial practices in profound ways.
For the past four years, the support of the Mayor of Sceaux and his team has played a full part in the success of the Summer School. Through their commitment and the quality of their support, they actively contribute to the development of projects carried out within the institution.
Building on the success of this year’s edition and the enthusiasm it generated among both participants and speakers, the next Summer School will provide an opportunity to explore together the ethical, legal and societal challenges raised by an increasingly pervasive presence of artificial intelligence in our societies.
