Shanghai 2025 Subject Rankings: Université Paris-Saclay Leading in Around Twenty Disciplines
On 18 November 2025, the Shanghai Ranking released its annual international ranking of universities by discipline (Global Ranking of Academic Subjects - GRAS). Université Paris-Saclay, ranked in 40 disciplines (+1 compared to 2024), remains in the global top 10 in two disciplines.
For the fifth consecutive year, Université Paris-Saclay ranks among the world’s top 10 universities in mathematics (2nd) and in physics, thereby confirming the excellence of the research conducted in its affiliated laboratories.
It ranks in 40 disciplines, including ten in the Top 50 of the best universities worldwide and 20 in the Top 100. Notably, it is ranked 19th in Ecology, 27th in Atmospheric Sciences, 30th in Statistics, 33rd in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 38th in Telecommunication Engineering, 40th in Automation and Control, 44th in Aerospace Engineering, and 45th in Agriculture.
The university is ranked in 20 disciplines in the global top 100. It is thus placed in the 51st–75th range worldwide in Clinical Medicine, Human Biological Sciences, and Earth Sciences.
It is also noteworthy that, for the first time, Université Paris-Saclay ranks as the leading French institution in AI, placing in the 51st–75th range worldwide, confirming the decisive impact of the university’s DataIA Institute on the French research and innovation landscape in artificial intelligence (AI).
