Rut Carballido-López elected member of the European Academy of Microbiology
On 19 March, the European Academy of Microbiology elected its new members. Rut Carballido-López is among the 95 internationally recognised scientists appointed.
Rut Carballido-López, head of the ProCeD team within the Microbiology of Food for Human Health laboratory (Micalis - Université Paris-Saclay / INRAE / AgroParisTech), has been elected a member of the European Academy of Microbiology. Already a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, she was awarded the Irène Joliot-Curie Young Woman Scientist Prize in 2015 for her work on the roles of bacterial actins in various cellular processes, and received an European Research Council Consolidator Grant in 2017 to further pursue her team’s research on bacterial morphogenesis-work that is opening up new avenues for identifying novel antibiotic mechanisms of action.
This new distinction recognises her major contributions to microbiology, in particular her advances in understanding the organisation and dynamics of bacterial cells.
