Campus life Article published on 25 March 2022 , Updated on 12 April 2022

Until 28 June 2022, the Orsay University Library will welcome the Louvre’s travelling gallery, with its exhibition ‘The Advent of the Artist'. The exhibition looks at the advent of artists, tracing their emergence and recognition over the centuries. The exhibition will feature reproductions of the Louvre’s works and the scenography has been coordinated by the museum.

The exhibition is available in the Orsay University Library’s hall, building 407, during the library’s opening hours. Guided tours are on offer on Tuesdays at 11am and Wednesdays at 4.30pm. Guided tours for groups can be organised upon request. Access to the exhibitions and guided tours is free of charge.

From the end of March until June, the teams at the Louvre have planned five key events as part of the exhibition:

31 March: discussion over coffee on “What is an artist?”
14 April: discussion over coffee on “Selfies at the Louvre” (cancelled)
12 May: fun workshop on “Apprentice artists”
19 May: “From pixels to portraits” workshop
2 June: discussion over coffee on “Men and women: a user’s manual”

The workshops will take place at 4pm, in the building 407. You can register here.
