Doctorate Article published on 01 December 2020

From Monday, November 16th to Wednesday, November 18th, 2020, 22 PhD students from different scientific fields, gathered for the the 6th edition of the Doctorial Camp, a « DoctorPreneuriales *» program.

Regarding the sanitary situation, the training course has had to be hold online for the first time. The challenge has been met for our trainers and the participants. During three intensive days, the PhD students were challenged and developed their entrepreneurial skills.

Trained by Vianeo experts and a representative of the Design Spot Paris-Saclay, six groups worked on several facets of an entrepreneurial project.

The teams received training on design thinking and the lean start-up method.

On the agenda: experimentation, iteration, research and understanding of customer issues.

During the last training day, in front of a jury of professionals, 6 teams pitched their projects on innovative subjects: artificial intelligence, health, environmental impact.

A jury of entrepreneurship professionals, Frédéric Capmas and Evan Pereira (IncubAlliance), Marianne Gaulhet (Général Electric), Franck Maistre (BNP Paribas), Erwann Pannier (Spark) and Marie-Aude Richard (UPSaclay), provided their expertise on the different projects.

“It doesn’t matter how good and innovative your idea is if no one needs it” recalls one of the participants. Another one said that « with some willingness, you can move from a vague idea to a really concrete project ».

*Doctorial Camp is one of the two modules included in the DoctorPreneurial training program. It is supplemented by the Valorization Camp whose next session date will be disclosed soon. This « carrières de docteurs » course allows PhD students to deepen their knowledge of  entrepreneurship and innovation.
