BrevetAI.fr: Université Paris-Saclay's DataIA Institute launches a training programme to help users better understand AI

Developed by teams at the ENS Paris-Saclay as part of the SaclAI-School project led by the DataIA Institute, with support from the France 2030 investment plan, BrevetAI is an interactive educational programme designed to build AI literacy. Based on a learning by doing approach, it combines explanatory resources, interviews with experts, practical activities and assessments, enabling participants to understand how AI works, its applications, and its ethical, environmental and legal implications, without requiring any prior technical knowledge.

Since September 2025, BrevetAI has been available to all students and staff at Université Paris-Saclay. It offers two learning pathways: a Discovery track (around 10 hours across two modules) and an Advanced track (around 20 hours across four modules). Both are assessed and lead to the award of ECTS credits for students and/or a micro-credential for all participants.

A nationwide rollout for the 2026–2027 academic year

From the start of the 2026 academic year, BrevetAI will expand significantly, with three modes of access:

• Public higher education institutions (universities and grandes écoles): through an agreement with Université Paris-Saclay and an annual subscription, institutions can integrate BrevetAI into their own virtual learning environment (such as Moodle), monitor students' progress, award grades and ECTS credits, and enable learners to obtain a Université Paris-Saclay micro-credential.
• Businesses and private higher education institutions: annual access is available according to training requirements and the number of participants, allowing BrevetAI to be deployed in both initial and continuing education.
• The general public, via the FUN MOOC platform: in partnership with France Université Numérique, BrevetAI will be freely accessible from September 2026 to anyone wishing to learn independently. Learners will also be able to take a paid assessment leading to a certification issued through FUN MOOC.

Further technical and pedagogical developments to BrevetAI will be funded by the revenue generated through its wider deployment.

BrevetAI is not simply a MOOC: it is an interactive learning journey in which participants explore and experiment with different aspects of artificial intelligence.
