Objectives

The network industry is at the centre of today's changing economy: on one hand, it is progressively opening up to competition, which has disrupted organisations and the way their markets function, and on the other hand, it serves as the infrastructure for the entire economy. The rapid digitisation of the economy which involves networks, IT and knowledge technologies, has given rise to new industrial stakeholders and new services and modifies the way we design, produce, distribute and consume goods and services. It is important to understand this complex ecosystem, which has become a key factor in our economy.

Career prospects

The Master's programme leads to a wide range of opportunities. It provides the skills and adaptability to occupy key positions in:

  • sectors driving innovation and involve a high degree of network phenomena such as those of digital technology and energy, as well as biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, aeronautics, etc.
  • the banking and investment sector (seed capital, risk capital & development capital)
  • business consultancies, technology incubators, entrepreneurship, spin-offs, etc.
  • the regulatory agencies and authorities of the sectors concerned.
  • any organisation in the industrial, service, social, public or territorial sectors called upon to design and deploy innovation strategies or to steer projects linked to network industries or digital industries
  • services that design and manage supply chains or the production processes of services offered by complex systems
  • research organisations.

The main career openings are:

  • for the professional path: the strategic or operational departments of major industrial groups, banks, consulting companies and large research centres, as well as innovative SME-SMIs, innovation and strategy consulting companies, large organisations steering scientific and innovation policies, regulatory agencies;
  • for the research path, more specifically: careers in teaching at tertiary level and careers in public research; European, national or regional public institutions in charge of developing innovation and research, industrial policies or competition policies.
  • Due to the cross-disciplinary nature of the programme, the jobs available at the end of the Master's course are highly varied:
  • For the professional path: Innovation manager, Technical-scientific auditor, Expert in innovative projects, Innovation financing specialist, Regulatory specialist, Competition analyst, Manager of a science and technology monitoring unit, Industrial marketing manager, Project manager in the innovation or digital field, Business analyst, Product manager, Strategy consultant, Study engineer, Business engineer, Manager of innovation intermediaries.
  • For the research paths: in industry: positions in R&D laboratories, in innovation organisation, in marketing, in prospective or strategic think tanks; in higher education teaching and research: university lecturers, development and partnerships officer in universities or engineering schools, or public research organisations; in international organizations: junior economist, sector project manager, analyst

The Master's programme also prepares students for entrepreneurship. A number students carry out internships or their apprenticeship at start-ups and may be asked to stay and work there.

Au premier semestre, l'étudiant doit choisir 6 séminaires fondamentaux parmi les 10 séminaires proposés. L'étudiant du profil professionnel devra aussi choisir un séminaire approfondi parmi les 4 séminaires approfondis proposés (Séminaire approfondi sur l'Economie et la gestion de l'innovation, séminaire approfondi sur l'Economie des plateformes, séminaire approfondi sur l'Application du market design aux secteurs de l'énergie ou le séminaire approfondi sur l'Economie de la régulation).
