Story of a meteorite unlike any other
On February 13, at 3:59 a.m., asteroid 2023 CX1 entered Earth's atmosphere, seven hours after being discovered. For two weeks, a team of researchers from the FRIPON/Vigie-Ciel program, enthusiasts, and volunteers of all ages went into the field near the village of Saint-Pierre-le-Viger in Seine-Maritime to find meteorites that had survived the small asteroid's entry into the atmosphere.
Here's a look back at an extraordinary mission for an extraordinary rock.
As part of the exhibition “Ensemble au coeur des sciences,” at Lumen from November 7, 2025, to January 6, 2026.
