Emergency Social Aid for Doctoral Students in international cotutelle or international co-supervision
Emergency Social Assistance for Doctoral Students (ASUD) is intended to improve the living conditions of doctoral students so that they can return to conditions that favor the performance of their research work.
Emergency Social Assistance for Doctoral Students aims to respond to the urgent needs of doctoral students, whether related to a sudden change in personal or financial circumstances, a break in funding, or insufficient funding, particularly in cases of in international cotutelle or international co-supervision.
The goal is to allow doctoral students to continue their studies under favorable conditions. Social emergencies require suitable support to help stabilize the social situation of beneficiaries.
Applications must satisfy the eligibility criteria set out in the internal regulations of the Doctoral Emergency Social Assistance Commission (ASUD).
Applicants are eligible for ASUD if they fulfill the following conditions:
- Be administratively enrolled in a doctoral program at Université Paris-Saclay
- Be a doctoral student in an international cotutelle or international co-supervision, or
Be a doctoral student whose financial situation has suddenly deteriorated, potentially impacting their living and study conditions.
Applications for this aid must be submitted via the Doctoral Emergency Social Aid (ASUD) application form.
This form must be completed online by the supervisor and/or the doctoral student: ASUD form.
The following documents are required to be included with the application:
Certificate of enrollment in a doctoral program at Université Paris-Saclay
Letter of support from the thesis supervisor and the doctoral school
All supporting documents illustrating the student's situation that are considered useful for estimating the budget and based on the social analysis that has been done
Last three bank statements
Bank account details
Declaration on honor attesting to the accuracy of the information and documents provided.
Information on financial aid requested from other entities/institutions (name of entity), periods requested, and responses received
For French or international doctoral student in an international cotutelle or international co-supervision:
International agreement for international cotutelle or international co-supervision
Any document proving the insufficiency or non-existence of funding from the partner due to unexpected circumstances
Overall financing plan for the thesis and supporting documents
Step 1: Review of applications
Applications are reviewed by the administrative departments responsible for this call , the Student Life and Equal Opportunities Department (DVEEC) and the Maison du Doctorat (MDD) and/or by the social worker at the CROUS, the university, or the DVEEC's student social support officer.
Step 2: Evaluation of applications by the Committee
Candidates admissible to this call will be presented to the ASUD Committee, while preserving the anonymity of the doctoral student. The Committee meets as often as necessary and upon request when complete applications are submitted by the applicant(s).
Members of the ASUD committee:
the Vice President for Doctoral Studies or his/her representative;
the Vice President for Student and Campus Life or his/her representative;
the Director of the Maison du Doctorat or his/her delegate;
the director the Student Life and Equal Opportunities Department (DVEEC) or his/her delegate;
a doctoral student from among the representatives of doctoral students from the ED councils or the central councils of Université Paris-Saclay.
Step 3: The Committee's decision
Once the ASUD Committee has reviewed the doctoral student's file, the doctorate student and social life manager sends each doctoral student an email informing them of the Committee's decision in a signed notification letter. The student's advisor is notified by copy of this email.
In case of a positive decision, the practical details for receiving the aid are provided.
In case of a negative decision, the reason for rejection is specified.
For doctoral students in an international cotutelle or international co-supervision :
The maximum aid is €3,200, paid in a single installment with no possibility of renewal during the same year. The aid may be combined with other scholarships or aid from outside or inside the University's institutions, as long as it does not cover the same funding period.
For doctoral students in insecure financial situations who are no longer receiving a scholarship or salary :
In the next two months: the maximum aid is €1,850 in aid, paid in a single installment with no possibility of renewal
For doctoral students in insecure financial situations receiving a scholarship or salary :
The maximum aid is €500 paid in a single installment with no possibility of renewal apart from in very exceptional cases, depending on a specific analysis of the doctoral student's situation.
This program is managed by the Student Life and Equal Opportunities Department (DVEEC) and the Maison du Doctorat (MDD).
