The objectives of the professionally oriented M2 ESMIHA program are to know and acquire methods and tools of epidemiology applied to infectious diseases, particularly the tools for epidemiological surveillance of communicable diseases in human and animal health within a "One Health" perspective. Courses are taught in French.

The training includes instruction based on learning epidemiological methods, combined with case studies.
From early November to early December, classes take place for one week in Montpellier, at CIRAD. This allows students to meet researchers and professionals from "Southern countries" and to engage in numerous practical applications, while strengthening the bonds within the cohort.

The objectives of this professionally oriented specialization are to acquire the essential methodological foundations for any epidemiological surveillance activity in the field of human or animal health. Upon completion of this training, students should be able to create, coordinate, or actively participate in an epidemiological surveillance network and to analyze the data collected by surveillance systems effectively.

As courses are taught in French, students must have at least a C1 level in French.
- Master’s 1st year in Epidemiology, Public Health, or Health Biology
- 5th year of Veterinary Studies
- Public Health Intern
- Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, Medicine, or Veterinary Medicine
- Degree in Agricultural or Agronomic Engineering.
As courses are taught in French, students must have at least a C1 level in French.
