The Master 2's program provides both theoretical and practical research training in the modeling and simulation of complex mechanical structures and systems. It offers the theoretical, mathematical, numerical, and computational foundations required for analysis and optimization. The program combines coursework, projects, and a research internship, and prepares students for potential continuation toward a PhD.

The academic year is organized into two semesters. The first semester includes ten courses selected from a broad range of elective modules. The second semester is devoted to a research project, consisting of a literature review on a scientific topic, as well as a research internship with a minimum duration of four months.

Independently formulate and define a mechanical engineering problem in a clear and unambiguous manner to meet a specified objective, including the modeling of the physical system, the characterization of loads and boundary conditions, and the development of an appropriate solution methodology.

Objectives

The Master's program provides both practical and theoretical research-oriented training in advanced techniques for the modeling and simulation of complex mechanical structures and systems.

The program aims to provide students with the theoretical, mathematical, numerical, computational, and software foundations required to understand and optimize the solution of real-world engineering problems related to the design, analysis, and virtual prototyping of complex mechanical systems.

Through a research internship carried out in either an academic laboratory or an industrial research center, as well as through projects integrated into the coursework, the program seeks to develop students' scientific methodology, critical thinking, and autonomy. It also enables them to assess their aptitude and interest in pursuing doctoral studies in the field.

The wide range of courses taught by both academic and industrial partners allows students to build a truly personalized curriculum across the areas covered by the program, including: modeling and simulation; computational mechanics and structural analysis; applied mathematics; coupled problems and interactions; parallel, multiscale, and multiphysics strategies; dynamics and wave propagation; vibration analysis and control; model order reduction; big data; experimental–computational interaction; model management; verification and validation; inverse problems; optimization; nonlinear problems; damage and fracture mechanics; composite materials; uncertainty quantification; and probabilistic modeling.
