The purpose of the Master 2 program Industrial Transition, Ecology, and Territory is to train professionals able at promoting industrial development, managing innovation, sustainability, and local governance.
The curriculum starts at the beginning of September. Until March, the curriculum alternates between a week in class and a week in a company (every second or third week, depending on the university calendar). The curriculum comprises 12 weeks of classes, for a total of 420 hours. From April until the dissertation at the end of the curriculum (defended at the beginning of September of the following year), students work in a company. In addition, a study tour (visit to industrial sites, for example) is organised at the start of the curriculum.
Information
Skills
Competencies developed : 1-Steer industrial transition projects adapted to global (technological and industrial sovereignty), territorial, social and environmental issues. 2-Analyse territorial dynamics and support the governance of reindustrialisation. 3-Develop circular economy and industrial ecology strategies for local territories. 4-Foster sustainable innovation in the face of climate and digital transitions. 5-Draw on a critical, interdisciplinary approach to link theory and practice in concrete professional situations.
Objectives
In a context marked, firstly and from a French perspective, by the decline of industry in the national economy (measured, for example, in terms of declining employment or the weight of industrial production in GDP) and secondly, and from a global perspective, by major environmental challenges (in short: various forms of pollution, climate change, declining biodiversity), the aim of the 2nd year Master's Industrial Transition, Ecology and Territories is to offer a curriculum in industrial transformation, reindustrialisation, the greening of industry, the emergence of new strategic industrial sectors geared to responsible and ecological development (low-carbon), the support and governance of the transition, and the relationship between regional/urban planning and industrial redevelopment. In other words, in view of the increasingly criticised environmental impacts and the role of industrial activities in climate change and environmental disruption, the issues addressed in this curriculum concern industrial production methods that have less impact (onshoring, regional production, shorter circuits, for example), the emergence of new industrial sectors that are less damaging to the environment (e.g. renewable energies: wind, hydro, solar, even methanisation), and the development of new practices such as product recycling and support for the development of industrial ecology (circular economy)
