M1 Intellectual Property Law - Information Technology Law - Guyancourt Site - Mobility Canada - Québec
First Year
The first year aims to provide students with a solid theoretical foundation and a critical legal methodology, aligned with one of the three proposed areas of specialization: international law, law and society, or labor law. It also includes a complementary training module in Intellectual Property and Digital Law (PIDN), designed to ensure the acquisition of cross-cutting knowledge necessary for understanding the legal challenges associated with intangible assets and emerging technologies.
Second Year
The second year focuses on deepening both theoretical and practical knowledge in intellectual property law, digital law, and the legal regulation of artificial intelligence. It is part of the “Intellectual Property and Digital Business Law” (PIDAN) program offered at UQAM, and aims to strengthen students’ analytical, research, and problem-solving skills within an international legal environment shaped by technological innovation.
The international double degree in Artificial Intelligence Law and Intellectual Property (IAPI) provides a critical and comparative training in intellectual property law, digital law, and the regulation of emerging technologies.
The first year, at Université Paris-Saclay, enables students to acquire solid theoretical foundations and an advanced methodology in legal analysis, complemented by additional training in Intellectual Property and Digital Law (PIDN).
The second year, completed at UQAM (Canada) within the PIDAN program, offers advanced theoretical and practical specialization in intellectual property, digital business law and artificial intelligence.
Upon completion of the program, students are awarded a double degree:
- the Master of Laws (LL.M.) conferred by UQAM, and
- the Master 2 from Université Paris-Saclay.
- Secteur privé : avocature, juriste d'entreprise, conseil...
- Secteur public: recherche, enseignement et recherche, expertise au sein des autorités de contrôle...
- Thèse de doctorat (Cifre, contrat doctoral, convention de recherche).
The program is intended for applicants holding a first-cycle degree in law (a Canadian Bachelor of Laws, a French Licence en droit, or an equivalent qualification), with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2/4.3. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in spoken and written French, as well as a solid command of English. Applications from candidates with a GPA below 3.2/4.3 but above 2.8/4.3 may also be considered, where justified by other elements of the application, such as a demonstrated interest in the program or the strength of the applicant’s academic record.
Internship
At the end of the two years of study, the program concludes with a final internship of a minimum duration of two months. This internship may be carried out anywhere in the world, with financial support available through dedicated mobility grants. It can take place within any of the numerous professional sectors to which the program provides access, offering students a first substantive immersion in legal environments related to digital law, intellectual property, and artificial intelligence.
