M2 Méthodologie et Statistiques en Recherche Biomédicale et Epidémiologie, parcours double diplôme UL-UPSaclay
The aim is to train versatile methodologists in biomedical research within both national and international contexts. Starting from a biomedical research problem, the graduate should be able to formalize it in order to design a study protocol and propose a statistical analysis plan.
The graduate will be able to:
- Identify and implement appropriate methodologies to address a wide range of issues in biomedical research.
- Detect the presence of statistical challenges that require consultation with an expert.
Career opportunities:
This Master’s program (M2) aims to train professionals in investigation and expertise in public health for positions in the pharmaceutical industry (research – development – marketing), statistical consulting firms, polling institutes, biotechnology companies and platforms, regulatory authorities, INSERM, universities, clinical research laboratories and units associated with university hospitals (CHUs), local and regional governments, regional health observatories, public health agencies (particularly InVS and other health agencies), consulting firms, and companies at the health-environment interface (e.g., Veolia, Suez, EDF...).
The Lebanese University (UL) and Université Paris-Saclay (UPSaclay) both contribute to the teaching of the Double Degree program. Courses taught by UL faculty take place on-site at UL in Beirut, Lebanon, while courses taught by UPSaclay faculty are delivered remotely. Review sessions will be organized in person at the UL premises, with travel by UPSaclay faculty members to Beirut whenever possible for certain course units. If travel is not possible, the review sessions will be accessible either in person at the UPSaclay campus or remotely for students enrolled in the Double Degree program. Courses are taught in French.
Students who have successfully completed the M1 “Public Health Methods” at Université Paris‑Saclay, or the M1 Public Health – Option: Methodology and Statistics in Biomedical and Epidemiological Research at the Lebanese University, or an M1 (or equivalent) covering a similar area. Students may also be admitted under continuing‐education status; for these, work experience will be taken into account in assessing the prerequisite requirements.
As courses are taught in French, students must be fluent in French.
The internship is carried out within any organization likely to employ a biomedical engineer in the future. It results in the submission of a written internship report and an oral defense.
