Claude Viterbo appointed as a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study
The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), a leading centre for theoretical research based in Princeton, New Jersey (United States), has announced its new Members for the 2026-27 academic year. Claude Viterbo, professor at Université Paris-Saclay, is among the scholars selected.
Claude Viterbo, professeur of mathematics at Université Paris-Saclay and member of the Topology and Dynamics team of the Laboratoire de mathématiques d’Orsay (LMO - Univ. Paris-Saclay/CNRS), has been appointed a Member of the Institute for Advanced Study, one of the world’s most prestigious research institutes.
From September 2026 to June 2027, this specialist in symplectic geometry, whose research focuses in particular on Floer homology, symplectic invariants, and the links between symplectic geometry, algebraic geometry and partial differential equations, will pursue his research at the School of Mathematics at the IAS. His appointment will enable him to pursue focused research while fostering the free and open exchange of ideas within an international community of researchers.
