The Master Degree Ergonomie comprises a M1 and M2 course entitled ‘Ergonomics and Human Factors’. The aim of this pathway is to train ergonomists and human factors professionals capable of working in all types of organisation to contribute to the design and assessment of work systems and situations, training or product use, with the dual objective of worker/user health and the overall performance of socio-organisational systems. Particular attention is paid to the issues of sustainable development and support for the transitions taking place in the socio-economic world.
Informations
The master degree Ergonomie is aligned with the skills identified in RNCP 38544 (https://www.francecompetences.fr/recherche/rncp/38544/).
It is structured around five areas of competence:
- Understanding human activities in context using a systemic approach.
- Collaboratively establishing the social, technical and financial conditions for an ergonomic intervention.
- Conducting an ergonomic intervention independently.
- Adapting ergonomic practices to societal changes.
- Conducting a reflective analysis of ergonomics, the profession of ergonomist and one's own practice.
The first year of the master's programme focuses on skills related to constructing and sharing a diagnosis in response to a request based on the ergonomic analysis of work or usage situations.
The second year of the master's programme aims to build skills related to producing an ergonomic diagnosis to support change management within an organisation (company, administration, association) with a view to improving overall health and performance.
Learning outcome targets
The Master Degree Ergonomie aims to train ergonomists and human factors professionals capable of working in all types of organisations to contribute to the design and evaluation of work system and situations, training and product use, with the dual objective of improving the health of workers/users and the overall performance of socio-organisational systems. The two years of training are closely linked to enable students to acquire the basic professional knowledge and skills required for the profession of ergonomist. The courses include multidisciplinary knowledge of human functioning and work environments (neurobiology, (neuro-)anatomy, physiology, psychology, physics, biomechanics, etc.) as well as knowledge of the theories, methods and techniques of research and intervention specific to ergonomics and the profession of ergonomist. Particular attention is paid to the challenges of sustainable development and support for transitions in the socio-economic world.
These courses have been designed in order to support the professionalisation of students. Over the two years, students gradually learn how to conduct an ergonomics intervention. With this in mind, the program is delivered on a work-study basis, with an internship in the second semester of the Master's 1 program and an apprenticeship and professional training contract throughout the Master's 2 program. This professional practice, supervised and tutored by professionals in the field and teacher-researchers, provides students with the opportunity to gradually acquire the professional skills related to the profession of ergonomist while receiving theoretical and methodological instruction. The program is structured around the development of five areas of expertise and skills by the students:
- Understanding human activities in context using a systemic approach;
- Collaboratively establishing the social, technical and financial conditions for an ergonomic intervention;
- Conducting an participatory ergonomic intervention ;
- Adapting ergonomic practices to societal changes;
- Conducting a reflective analysis of ergonomics, the profession of ergonomist and one's own practice.
The program complies with national and international standards for the profession: it therefore meets the recommendations of the Collège des Enseignants-Chercheurs en Ergonomie (CE2, http://www.ce2-ergo.fr/rech_form/recommandations_master_213.pdf) and the criteria of the Centre of Registration of European Ergonomists (CREE, http://www.artee.com/criteres-d-obtention-du-titre.php) and the standards set by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA). Graduates of the EFH program will therefore be eligible for the ‘Ergonome Junior Certifié’ certification upon graduation, and after three years of professional practice, for the European Ergonomist certification, which are the only existing certifications for the profession of ergonomist, respectively in France and Europe.
Target audience
The Master Degree Ergonomie recruits students who have completed a bachelor's degree in science (biology, physics), humanities and social sciences (psychology, sociology, anthropology), sports science, health, safety and environmental quality, or who have training in health and paramedical professions. The program is also open to anyone with professional experience who wishes to train in ergonomics and become an ergonomist. It is also possible to enter directly into the second year of the Master's degree, provided that you have a solid foundation in ergonomics and the profession of ergonomist equivalent to our first year of the Master's program.
