Institut Pascal’s Team and Board of Directors
The team at Institut Pascal consists of seven people who are devoted to working within the institute either full-time or part-time:
Aurelie Lando, the General Secretary, works for the Institute full-time. She participates in the setting of the Institute's objectives and is responsible for the financial and administrative management.
Emmanuelle Vietti works for IPa full-time. She is responsible for the conception and development of the CMS (Content Management System) that interfaces the requests of the visitors with Université Paris-Saclay to deliver access to its different facilities and assist the program participants during their stay in the region. She also takes care of the IT needs of all guests and staff members.
Sabrina Soccard joined the IPa team in February of 2019. Sabrina performs both administrative tasks and coordinates scientific programs. Sabrina works for IPa full-time, excluding Wednesdays.
Francesca Sconfienza is the newest member if the IPa team, having just commenced in May 2020. She brings with her a wealth of experience in the fields of Events Management and Digital communications, so she will be a valuable collaborator for Scientific Program Organisers!
Denis Ullmo, the IPa Director, ensures the management of all the means at the disposal of the institute, and oversees all of the IPa's activities. His role is to ensure that the Institute runs as smoothly as possible. As a physicist, having engaged in scientific activity at the frontier between physics, applied math & social sciences, Denis is aware of the needs of different scientific communities. The Director of IPa also chairs the Scientific Council.
With these responsibilities, the Director is assisted by the two Deputy-Directors. They are:
Yves Balkanski, research engineer at CEA. Yves duties for the Institute consist of assisting the Scientific Council with the selection of the Scientific Programs and acting as a member of the Board in the day-to-day running of the institute. He helps to facilitate scientific outcomes through discussions with program organisers and program participants to make sure that they take full advantage of what IPa has to offer.
and Jacques Bittoun, University Professor - Inpatient practitioner of Biophysics and Nuclear Medicine at Paris-Sud University, and Director of Institut Joliot at CEA. Jacques role is to assist the Director of IPa in all his functions according to his needs. Due to his experience with the different University communities as former Vice-President of Research (2007-2012) and President (2012-2016) of Université Paris-Sud, and due to his multidisciplinary education as Physician and Physicist, he can offer recommendations for the management of the IPa and facilitate contact in particular with the Life Sciences Community.
Other significant contributors to the foundation and establishment of the institute and its practices:
Stephanie Hessing, the virtual 'Godmother' of the institute, established and contributed to every facet of the institute's policies, procedures, mission, communications, venue design, and scientific network.
Karolina Kolodziej was one of the founding members of the Institut Pascal team. She has played an integral role in the establishment of both the format of scientific programs and the administrative functions of the institute, simultaneously managing events and administrative matters.
Rebecca Smirr served as the institute's first ever Communications Manager, while also managing some of the institute’s scientific programs. she helped to facilitate scientific outcomes, and established IPa’s public communications platforms, while contributing to the institute’s policies and procedures.
