The interdisciplinary field of migration studies has developed, for about four decades, an ever-growing interest in gendered perspectives on migration. Handbooks on migration usually include by now several chapters that center-stage a gendered analysis. Importantly, this body of research foregrounds migrant women\u2019s agency beyond depictions of women as passive followers or victims and takes up earlier calls to address questions of masculinity and sexuality in migration. Importantly, adopting a gendered lens also means revealing the gendered implications of migration policies.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr\u003E\nThis course will discuss existing research on contemporary migrations, mostly in Europe but not only, through the lens of gender. The course will first provide students with an overview of some of the theoretical tools mobilised in migration studies around gendered analyses. A series of thematic sessions will then address, from a gendered perspective, international and national migration governance, the international division of reproductive labour, the gendered experiences of asylum seekers and refugees under contemporary humanitarian intervention, as well as questions of women\u2019s rights in multiculturalism.
