Founded in the early 1990s, the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ) is now the largest center for higher education, research and technology in the area.

UVSQ spans five campuses in the Yvelines department and has a student body of 20,000 enrolled in over 200 programs in all subjects. A school of engineering, two university institutes of technology, a teacher training college and more recently an institute of political studies complete the range of study options, offering bachelor to doctorate level instruction.

USVQ is the leading university in France in terms of student success at the bachelor level and ranks third for the number of apprentices in the Île-de-France, reflecting a strategy that prioritizes educational innovation and professionally-focused international programs.

Space, climate, environment, heritage, health, innovative materials, sociology, public policy… UVSQ’s laboratories foster innovative, cross-disciplinary research that anticipates societal concerns, informs citizens and supports decision-makers.

The university participates in twenty state-funded “Investment for the Future” programs. With ten technology platforms, two industrial research chairs and participation in six competitiveness clusters, UVSQ actively cultivates projects with high potential for knowledge and technology transfer with industry partners in strategic sectors of the French economy.

Now firmly engaged in the Université Paris-Saclay alongside its academic and local partners, UVSQ is well positioned to meet the twin challenge of economic and technological competition combined with the acceleration of scientific developments worldwide.
