With India remaining one of priority destinations for most of our member institutions, a delegation of 6 representatives of UPSaclay has successfully completed its first business trip to Bangalore, Kanpur and New Delhi from 8 to 12 March 2018.
Keitaro Nakatani, Vice-President for Research of ENS Paris-Saclay, Claire Lartigue, Vice-President for Academic Affairs of ENS Paris-Saclay, Sandrine Lacombe, Vice-President for International Relations of UPSud, Fabien Bretenaker, senior researcher at CNRS, researcher in Physics at ENS Paris-Saclay and Associate Professor at Raman Research Institute, as well as Guillaume Garreta, Director of International Relations of UPSaclay, and Sergei Shikalov, International Projects Coordinator at UPSaclay, reaffirmed UPSaclay’s commitment in reinforcing and expanding the French-Indian cooperation in science and research (particularly, in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Nanotechnology, New Materials, and Environment) and academic exchanges on the undergrad and grad levels (short-term training and summer school programmes, research and faculty members exchanges).
Administrative representatives and researchers already involved in French-Indian cooperation from Raman Research Institute, Indian Institute of Science of Bangalore, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Indian Institutes of Technology of Kanpur and Delhi confirmed their interest in further development of joint projects with UPSaclay (within CNRS projects for international research (PICS), international joint laboratories LIAs, UPSaclay’s funding programmes for grad students and researchers, and the CEFIPRA programme) and reserved to the French delegation a most warm welcome.
The business trip was organised in the context of the French President’s 1st official state visit to India and the first high-level French-Indian Higher Education and Research summit Knowledge Summit held in New Delhi on 10 and 11 March.
