Prof. Timothy O'Connor met president Sylvie Retailleau during his visit in March.

On 24 March, the president of Université Paris-Saclay, Sylvie Retailleau, welcomed the Vice-rector of academic affairs of NUST MISIS. This third visit by Prof. Timothy O’Connor in three years is a testimony to the active cooperation between our two institutions. Prof. O’Connor met with representatives of the brand new Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology where he discussed possible areas of cooperation. He also visited the Digiscope Fablab, with Romain di Vozzo, its director and founder.

Jointly with UPSaclay, the Muscovite university is organizing a workshop in July – the Precious Plastic Workshop which will be held at NUST MISIS Fablab in Moscow. Dedicated to plastic upcycling, it will involve 6 students selected from MISIS and the founding members of Université Paris-Saclay who will work at the MISIS Fablab to develop new tools towards plastic recycling.

Also taking place in Moscow in July, the Ice Vision Challenge Hackathon, entirely organized and funded by MISIS will bring together teams of 5 students from several universities: MISIS, UPSaclay, Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Arizona State University, University of Wisconsin-Stout, University of Ulsan, Polytechnic University of Catalonia (BarcelonaTech), and King Addullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). These teams will need to develop, within the space of 48 hours, a software which will be able to efficiently and accurately find and classify objects on winter city dataset (Both Video & LiDAR data sequence). The teams will present their results in front of industry representatives and winners will be awarded a prize.
